Most of the county reaches us in under half an hour — down the 133 from Irvine, the 73 from Costa Mesa, Pacific Coast Highway from the coastal cities, or the 5 South from inland OC.
Why Orange County comes here
County-wide access, village-scale care.
Orange County mental health needs are often hidden in plain sight — high-functioning careers, competitive schools, and a culture that rewards looking fine. When depression, anxiety, trauma, or substance use outpaces weekly outpatient care, the next step is structured day treatment.
High Tide is not a hospital system with rotating clinicians and cafeteria groups. We run small PHP and IOP cohorts in Laguna Beach with a consistent clinical team, psychiatric oversight, group therapy, and a coastal setting — deliberately apart from the office parks and medical plazas where most people burned out.
Clients drive from Irvine, Newport, Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, and the inland cities every day. The commute is part of the clinical design: you leave your neighborhood stressors, spend the day in intensive care, and return home each evening to practice what you learned. Most major PPO plans are accepted — we verify before you start.

Common questions
Questions Orange County families ask.
How far is Laguna Beach from most of Orange County?
Most residents are 15 to 35 minutes away depending on traffic and starting point. Irvine is often 20 minutes via the 133; coastal cities like Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, and Huntington Beach run 20 to 30 minutes on PCH or the 73.
Do you only treat people who live in Laguna Beach?
No — the majority of our clients live elsewhere in Orange County and commute daily. The program is built for that commute, not for local residents only.
What levels of care do you offer?
Partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP), plus integrated dual diagnosis treatment within both levels. Clinical programming is outpatient — you leave the facility each day. Optional supportive housing is available when commuting is hard; it is not inpatient or locked residential treatment.
Does insurance cover PHP and IOP in Orange County?
Most PPO plans cover both at meaningful levels under mental health parity law. We verify benefits before you commit — usually the same day you call. Start at /insurance or read /mental-health-guides/does-insurance-cover-php-iop.
Can I step down from PHP to IOP with the same team?
Yes. Step-down happens inside the same facility with the same clinicians, so continuity is clinical, not administrative. Compare levels in /mental-health-guides/php-vs-iop.
What happens after discharge?
Every client leaves with discharge planning — referrals to outpatient mental health treatment and psychiatry near home, and gradual tapering rather than an abrupt stop.
